UCLA Football: Is Clarendon Coming Back?
The UCLA football team has been releasing some promo pictures for season tickets, but it also might be revealing something else about next season.
Currently, the UCLA Football team is in the middle of Spring Practice, which means that it is five months until we will have the return of college football.
In that time, UCLA football and the UCLA Athletic Department will be preparing for the return. Part of that preparation will involve photo shoots for promos for the upcoming season.
Though things will be readied in the summer, there are already a few pictures that have been released by the UCLA Athletic Department on Twitter which shows something interesting in regards to the UCLA Football jerseys.
Take a look at these pictures that were tweeted out and tell me if you see anything “traditional?
The numbers on these UCLA Football jerseys are a particular font, Clarendon, which has traditionally been used by the Bruins.
Now this is all speculation on my part, but it does not seem like these are old pictures. What tipped me off to the possibility of the Clarendon font returning is sophomore-quarterback-to-be Josh Rosen in the second tweet by Senior Associate Athletic Director Josh Rebholz.
Last season during his freshman year, Rosen wore an Adidas jersey that had block lettering (see the image to the right). At no time during the 2015 season did Rosen wear a jersey with the Clarendon font.
The last time UCLA had the Clarendon font on their jerseys was during the 2014 season, the year before Rosen’s arrival.
That leads me to believe one of two things: (1) the images in the tweet are photoshopped or (2) UCLA Football and Adidas are bringing back Clarendon for the 2016 season.
If this is so, then bravo UCLA and Adidas for making the Bruin jerseys look like Bruin jerseys again.

Now, Adidas, please do something about those shoulder stripes, they are suppose to go all the way around. And could you please make the pants gold and not mustard? Thanks!
Editor’s Note: Since publishing this, I received word that these photos in Josh Rebholz’s tweets are in fact old, so my bad. Still, it does not change the fact that UCLA should ALWAYS have the Clarendon font on the jerseys. Maybe this helps push it towards that.
