UCLA Football Defensive Coordinator Tom Bradley talked to reporters about the defense after Day 2 of Spring Practice.
On Tuesday, UCLA Football Head Coach Jim Mora gave a brief update on the team after Day 1 of Spring Practice.
While Mora was clear that UCLA’s offense is NOT a pro-style, he did talk about how and why there was a need to tweak the offense.
Today, we heard a similar tone from UCLA DC Tom Bradley, and though he has concerns, his focus is on how things feel a lot more comfortable this spring.

Bradley said that being with the program for a year has allowed him to be a better coach and understand his players and what limits he can push them to.
Bradley said that he has “addressed” the situation with the run defense and as he admitted, “that’s one thing we thought we had to do a better job with.” When it came to taking about the overall plan, like Mora, Bradley also commented on the need to make “tweaks”.
The biggest “tweak” is moving from the 3-4 to a 4-3 defense. Bradley wants his players to understand the big picture, but before that happens, the players need to understand the basics of their individual development, “It’s fundamentals until we get into the game plan.”

Bradley also commented on returning DT Eddie Vanderdoes who suffered a season-ending injury in the first game of 2015. “He is progressing and seems to be on target.” Though Vanderdoes maybe limited in spring, he is set to return fully recovered for fall camp.
The old new guy on the coaching staff, Marques Tuiasosopo, had also talked to the media in his first presser as the new UCLA QB coach. Though his talk was more brief than Bradley’s, he did give his take on Josh Rosen, the initial look of Matt Lynch and working with new Offensive Coordinator Kennedy Polamalu.
