The UCLA Basketball team failed to make it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012, breaking the two-year streak of Sweet Sixteens under Steve Alford.
It is NCAA Tournament time! Unfortunately the most decorated program in NCAA history, the UCLA Basketball program, was not selected to participate in the Big Dance.

They were also turned away from the NIT as well, so that tells you what type of season it was, if you did not already know.
The UCLA Basketball team finished the regular season two games under .500 and were effaced by the USC Trojans 95-71 in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament. Teams do not get invited to dance with those results.
What hurts the most is the fact that a record seven Pac-12 schools are headed to the NCAA Tournament with regular season and Pac-12 Tournament Champion Oregon taking the #1 seed in the West Region.

Joining them is #4 California, #6 Arizona and #8 Colorado in the South Region, #8 USC in the East Region and #3 Utah in the Midwest Region and #7 Oregon State in the West.
While the top seven teams in the Pac-12 get to extend their season for at least one more game, the UCLA Basketball team is taking an early vacation.
But fear not! The UCLA Athletic Department has decided to retain head coach Steve Alford, so this type of basketball will be with us for another year.
Aside from Tony Parker, who is graduating, the Bruins keep the core of their team which will be lead by Bryce Alford and Isaac Hamilton. Along with that, the Bruins bring in a Top 5 recruiting class to help improve their game.

Either way, Alford and the UCLA Basketball team WILL be expected to improve next season. If there is no improvement, than UCLA could once again be in the hunt for another head coach.
