UCLA Football Returns To The AP Poll Top 25

The UCLA Football team returns to the Top 25 this week after a thrashing of the California Golden Bears.

Things tend to start looking up for a team after they not only have an excellent bounce back game but do it whilst beating a Top 25 team. But then to completely dismantle said team is an added bonus!

That is was what we got from the UCLA Football team after defeating then-#20 ranked Cal, 40-24 last Thursday. Because the Bruins were able to prove that they are once a again one of the Top 25 teams in the country, they were rewarded with the #24 ranking in this week’s AP Poll.

The Bruins had exited the polls last week after a vicious beating at the hands of Stanford (and previously Arizona State). UCLA Football had reached as high #7 in the polls, but was forced out of the Top 25 after those two consecutive losses.

Well the Bruins are back and looking to stay on the winning path, especially with games against Colorado, Oregon State and Washington State in the next three weeks. They will not be easy, but they also will not be as brutal as the last three games.

Because of their big win over Cal — as well as Utah’s loss to USC — UCLA Football is now back in the Pac-12 South Division race. If UCLA wins out as well as ASU suffering another loss, the Bruins will be headed for the Pac-12 Championship Game… but that is a long time away.

As for the rest of the Pac-12, Utah drops 10 spots to #13 after getting smashed by USC, 42-24. The Trojans did not re-eneter the Top 25. Whith their loss to UCLA, Cal drops out of the poll. Stanford’s current six-game win streak no has them ranked 8th in the country.
