Sports Illustrated released their midseason bowl projections for the coming post-season and has UCLA and Penn State squaring off in the Holiday Bowl.
It is not a bad projection, but it is not one that UCLA football fans were hoping for. Today, Sports Illustrated released their midseason bowl projections which has UCLA facing the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Holiday Bowl on December 30 in San Diego, CA.

Going to the Holiday Bowl is usually reserved for the 3rd or 4th place team in the Pac-12 (depending on how the College Football Playoff and New Year’s Six Bowls shake out) so it is decent projection considering the position the Bruins are currently in.
Seeing how the Bruins have played the last two weeks in their losses and the amount of injuries they have sustained, I would not mind this bowl, but it should not be one that the Bruins strive for.
Currently, UCLA Football is 4th in the South Division, two games behind Utah, and have six games left. Needless to say, there is plenty of time for UCLA Football to try for the South Division.
As for the other Pac-12 teams, Sports Illustrated has two in the New Year’s Six Bowls. Utah is projected to take on Florida State in the Peach Bowl while Stanford and Ohio State are picked to battle in the Rose Bowl.
In the lesser bowls, Arizona is slated against BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl, Oregon and Virginia Tech are in the Sun Bowl, USC and Nebraska once again meet, though this time it is in the Foster Farms Bowl, Washington State is projected to go against Utah State in the Armed Forces Bowl and Arizona State could be facing Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl.
