UCLA proved that they can limit a pretty explosive offense in U of A, and there is no reason that they can’t do that again. ASU has good wide receivers but their O-Line is suspect and their QB play has been below average. UCLA should run all over the Sun Devil defense and Josh Rosen should be able to throw for short gains against the constantly blitzing defense.

ASU has seen major regressions in every facet of the game from who they were expected to be this year. If the Sun Devils make this game competitive, it’ll be because they’ve shown up in a way they haven’t done all season — or the Bruins melt down and shoot themselves in the foot with miscues, which I don’t anticipate.

UCLA’s offensive line is going to have to play its best game of the season to keep Josh Rosen upright against a blitz-happy Sun Devil team. But as long as the line clears the way on the ground for Paul Perkins and co. to eat up chunks of yards at a time and gives Rosen 3 seconds on passing downs to pick apart the wide open spaces in the back end of the ASU defense, the Bruins should be able to outscore the Sun Devils in a game ASU keeps closer than expected thanks to its potent rushing attack and UCLA’s apparent lack of a run defense.

You look at the Arizona State defense and their “boom or bust” defense, and the top three tacklers for a loss in the Pac-12 are all Sun Devils, so they do make a lot of the plays. So we are going to have to watch out for that and I will think it will be pretty close in the third quarter.

This UCLA defense does not have the size of a guy like Myles Jack. The biggest guy they have out there is Kenny Young. So I just think they’re going to get hit a couple times on the run and Ariozna is going to score but the Bruins hold out.

ASU 17 – UCLA 28
UCLA looked MUCH improved in their win over Arizona, and they had an impressive showing similar to their Virginia matchup in their blowout victory in Tucson.
Josh Rosen looked great in his Pac-12 debut and the running game was reliable once again.
The only concern for the Bruins Saturday was their run defense, but overall UCLA should be able to take advantage of an ASU team mired in a significant struggle.

ASU 10 – UCLA 45
The UCLA football team did bad on defense last week… if you compare them to themselves. Compared to other teams around the country, they are still pretty damn good. Despite losing three starters, UCLA is deep and is very well coached. Arizona State on the other hand is a hot mess. The Sun Devils have played two ranked teams and in both games they were blown out. With UCLA having tons of momentum and having to play this game at the Rose Bowl, all the advantages are on the UCLA side.
