The middle linebacker position is often referred to as the “quarterback of the defense”. This means that Kenny Young, in essence, is now the leader of the Bruin D. Jack is out, but so is DL Eddie Vanderdoes due to a torn ACL and yesterday we found out CB Fabian Moreau is also gone of the season.

That is three starters that are not available this year. Talent, leadership and experience… gone.
Still, that does not mean that the Bruin’s talent well is dried up. This is where Young comes in.
Young has done a sold job this season and will now need to step up as a leader. Currently, he is 6th on the team with 11 tackles and even had a spectacular pick six against UNLV. Unfortunately, he has only played two full games this year as he was ejected in the BYU game for targeting.
First off, Mr. Young, no more of that tomfoolery. Secondly, it is time to step up and lead. Because of both the ejection and the need for a leader, I fully expect Young to grow up quickly in the next few weeks and be that guy the Bruins need in the head and in the heart.
