What If Brett Hundley Returned To UCLA Football For One More Season?
By Matt Wagner
With one more year of eligibility, what would this season be like if QB Brett Hundley returned to UCLA Football?
As of today, we are only a matter of days — yes, DAYS — away from UCLA football opening up their 2015 season versus Virginia.

As is standard procedure every year across college football, the Bruins are looking to replace a major contributor to their offense, that contributor being quarterback Brett Hundley.
The Bruins do look as if they have a capable replacement in 5-star true freshman Josh Rosen, but it would be fun for old time’s sake to look back and see what would happen if Hundley opted to return for his senior season rather than head to the NFL.

So how would that play out?
Hundley was able to lead us to the cusp of greatness over his tenure, leading us to heights we have not seen here in Westwood for years.
Had he returned, he would have been a part of an even experienced offensive unit, as well as a defense that only experienced two significant losses in linebacker Eric Kendricks and DE/OLB Owamagbe Odighizuwa.
We had already experienced a major jump in momentum with Hundley at the helm and had he stayed for one last season, we would’ve almost surely reached dangerous heights for other teams around the country. Combine that with a schedule that is set up relatively favorable, considering we avoid a regular season matchup with Oregon, and UCLA could have likely been looking at a College Football Playoff berth and a potential national championship.
I would not go as far as to guarantee a national title, but UCLA surely would have been in the mix come January.
Again, this is purely for speculation purposes and it is not a knock on Josh Rosen in any way. Rosen could very well take over where Hundley left off and lead the Bruins to a national title, but it is fun to think about what could’ve been nonetheless.
