“Urgency” is what UCLA Football Coach Jim Mora wants and urgency is what Mora will get. That was his very public and vocal message today to freshmen quarterback Josh Rosen. The Bruin coach made it clear to Rosen and the media what he felt about the newbie QB’s effort.
Towards the end of the first practice of the day, the Bruins worked on Hail Mary situations. That is when Mora went off.
“Go back to Bosco and play some more [bad] teams.” Oh yeah. And that was not all. At one point, according to Joey Kaufman of the Orange County Register, Mora threw his hands up and said, “Oh, the Anointed One.” He topped that off when he looked right at the media and said , “That is why he has not been named the starter.”
Ouch.
As for all three of the injured offensive linemen that went down Monday, all were back at practice today. Jake Brendel and Alex Redmond returned yesterday while Conor McDermott came back today after getting an MRI at UCLA on Tuesday. Both Brendel and McDermott are in light drills as they ease back into practice while Redmond is handling duties at center. Redshirt freshman Kolton Miller took over at LT while freshman Fred Ulu-Perry held doen the RG.
The injury bug did not compltely go away for UCLA Football. Freshmen RB Bolu Olorunfunmi was out today with a tweaked ankle. DE Takkarist McKinley was out for an “undisclosed injury”.
