According to JMISports.com UCLA has decided to re-up with media provider IMG College  The Bruins look to rake in as much as $15 million per year under the new deal.

UCLA has reportedly decided to re-sign with media provider IMG College (the group that has handled UCLA’s multimedia business since 2005 and calls itself “America’s Home For College Sports”). The Bruins deal will triple from $5 million a year to $15 million per year.

If the name IMG sounds familiar to you, they produce part of the Pre, Half and Post coverage for UCLA Football and Basketball games in conjunction with  AM 570 LA Sports (you will hear those letters no less than 500 times during a game, but its never quite clear who IMG College is).

In case you were wondering, IMG College is responsible for the following facets of UCLA’s multimedia marketing and promotion (according to the IMGCollege.com):

  • UCLA Football/Rose Bowl sponsorships (TV visible signage, LED field level signage, static stadium signage, rim signage, press box level naming rights, entrance/exit gates, parking lots, concourse displays and hospitality);
  • Pauley Pavilion sponsorships (Cornerstone partnership, TV Visible Courtside signage, LED Ribbon signage, tunnel branding, permanent signage, basket stanchions, chair backs, on-court promotions, concourse displays & hospitality);
  • Jackie Robinson sponsorships (scoreboard, other signage as agreed);
  • Drake Stadium scoreboard;
  • LA Tennis Center scoreboard;
  • product displays;
  • on-field/court promotions, Radio (Football & Men’s Basketball (Play-by-Play, Pre-Game, In-Game & Post Game show features);
  • live mentions and commercial spots;
  • Television partnership (Football & Basketball Coach’s Shows on Pac-12 Network:
  • Commercial spots, Billboards and Features);
  • Print (Football game program);
  • Men’s/Women’s Basketball game program/rostercard;
  • official sports publication;
  • Baseball program/rostercard;
  • all other sports programs/rostercards;
  • Olympic Sports TV Visible signage;
  • Digital;
  • Social Media
  • Merchandising and Licensing through subsidiary Collegiate Licensing Company.

More from UCLA Bruins

So almost anything you see, hear or hold in your hands that has the lovely UCLA logo involved goes through IMG College.

The Pac-12 is forming its own company to allow member schools to eliminate the middle man and possibly increase the percentage of money brought in through multimedia sales, which is probably a major reason why UCLA’s deal is increasing so much.

What does this mean for us fans? Probably not much. AM 570 LA Sports will still  be the home for the Bruins on radio and they will bounce around nationally on TV. However, you can expect to hear the letters “IMG” at least 3 times as much from now on.
