UCLA Football Recruiting: Keyshawn Johnson Jr. Has The Bruins In His Top Eight

On the same day the 2017 UCLA Football recruiting class got their first commit, another recruit has the Bruins in their sights as 4-star wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr., has UCLA in his top eight.

Earlier tonight at Ohio’s State Friday Night Lights camp, 4-star wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson, Jr. trimmed his list of schools to eight which included UCLA. The 6’2″, 180 lbs. Calabasas product has had an offer from the UCLA Football program for over a year.

The wide receiver position has been a tricky one for head coach Jim Mora and his coaching staff to lock down lately. In 2014, UCLA Football got three huge commitments from wide receivers Alex Van Dyke, Austin Roberts and Jordan Lasley. Things appeared to be going in the same direction in 2015 as the Bruins had three commitments at one point, only to land one, 4-star receiver Cordell Broadus.

Along with the Bruins, Johnson also has Alabama, Arizona, Clemson, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss and USC on his updated recruiting list.

Speaking of USC, if you have not guessed by now, Johnson is the son of USC Football All-American and  the #1 selection in the 1996 NFL Draft, Keyshawn Johnson, Sr. Though the younger Johnson has the Trojans in his Top 8, it will be interesting to see if head coach Steve Sarkisian can lure him in after only offering him a scholarship just four months ago.

Still, it is a long time until Johnson signs with any school and right now, UCLA and USC seem to have just as good a shot as any among the eight.
