Its the Pre-Pre-Season for College Football, and that means that numerous Athletic Foundations, Writers Associations and Rotary Clubs are announcing the player watch lists for the 2015 season. The latest announcements have named several UCLA Bruins to their lists.

The Football Writers Association of America, which awards the Outland Trophy to the country’s best lineman, has named 81 players to its preseason watch list, including UCLA’s Jake Brendel, Kenny Clark, and Eddie Vanderdoes.

Other Pac-12 Players to make the list were:

  • Nick Kelly, Arizona State, C
  • Christian Westerman, Arizona State, G
  • Freddie Tagaloa, Arizona, OT
  • Kyle Murphy, Stanford, OT
  • Joshua Garnett, Stanford, G
  • Tyler Johnstone, Oregon, OT
  • Isaac Seumalo, Oregon State, G
  • Antwaun Woods, USC, DT
  • Max Tuerk, USC, C
  • Joe Dahl, Washington State, OT

The FWAA also released the 88 player watch list for the Bronco Nagurski Award which is given to the country’s best defensive player. UCLA’s Kenny Clark, Myles Jack, and Fabian Moreau all made the cut for the award. UCLA had the most selections for the award from the Pac-12 and it should be noted that they have a player named from each level of the defense (Line, Linebackers, DBs). Lets hope these guys are ready to play up to the hype.

Other Pac-12 Players to make the Nagurski list were:

  • Budda Baker, Washington, DB
  • DeForest Buckner, Oregon, DE
  • Su’a Cravens, USC, LB
  • Adoreé Jackson, USC, DB
  • Blake Martinez, Stanford, LB
  • Jared Norris, Utah, LB
  • Scooby Wright III, Arizona, LB

In the last month,  kicker Ka’Imi Fairbain was named to the Lou Groza Award watch list, Jake Brendel was named to the Rimington list, Kenny Clark made the Bednarik list, Ishmael Adams was put on the Paul Hornung watch list, Paul Perkins made the Maxwell Award Watch List and Myles Jack was named to both the Hornung and Bednarik lists.

Incidentally, Josh Rosen was name to “Frosh Most Likely to Make or Break a Season List” (created by me).
