USC 8 – UCLA 9, NCAA Championship

More from UCLA Bruins

Beating USC for a conference championship is great, but it is really sweet beating USC for a national title. That is why the Men’s Water Polo team gets our vote for the #1 victory over USC for the 2014-15.

On Sunday December 7, 2014, the Bruins met up with the Trojans who were looking for their seventh consecutive NCAA water polo championship. Behind Danny McClintock‘s four goals, the Bruins were victorious in this classic.

UCLA, who lead the season series 3-1, was dominating USC through three quarters as they lead 7-4. In the final frame, the Trojans made a comeback with four goals to tie the game 8-8 with just under three minutes.

Then with 34 seconds left, Gordon Marshall hit the game- and championship-winning goal to capture the 9th Men’s Water Polo championship and UCLA’s 112th, extending their lead among all NCAA programs.

Go Bruins.
