So Twitter went ablaze after UCLA football’s 40-35 win over the Kansas State Wildcats last night as an interesting series of events led to an awkward ending for both teams. What was suppose to be a kneel to run out the clock, turned into an awkward handshake and a defense of players that has those supporting K-State (and those against UCLA) blowing things way out of proportion.
It all started when UCLA was ready to snap their last play of the game. The clock was winding down and the Bruins were about to take a knee to run out the clock.
As you can see in the Vine post above, one of the Wildcat players tries to dive over and through the UCLA offensive line directly at QB Brett Hundley. Hundley has to duck as to get out of harms way. Not that classy of a move from a team that had clearly lost. If they really wanted to win, maybe they should have scored more or not blown their timeouts early.
This was the first thing that happened. Then after the game, there was a less-than-brief handshake between UCLA head coach Jim Mora and K-State coach Bill Snyder.
So what was that about? Mora explains… a little.
That is where Twitter blew up. Attack and defense of a coach for a handshake that looked less than respectful. But here is what no one seemed to look at, despite unleashing their tirades.
We are all so quick to judge.

Now I am not saying that what Mora did was acceptable. It probably could have been done in a more appropriate way, that was shown by how he went back to Snyder to give his praise to the opposing coach. With emotions running high after a big win in the biggest bowl of Mora’s tenure over a higher ranked team, things can got a bit out of control.
But when you make up for that, it is over. Move on. It is time to focus on the 2015 season.
Go Bruins!
