Amid Rumors, Jim Mora Is Staying At UCLA

More from UCLA Bruins Football

It is that wacky time of the season when the wind of the college football coaching carousel starts kicking up dusty rumors for several teams as they put numerous high-profile coaches on their wish list. Though UCLA Head Coach Jim Mora has once again been listed as a target for several teams around the country, he made it clear today that he loves UCLA and will stay in Westwood to “build something special”. You may exhale now, Bruin fans.

Jim Mora was a guest on two different L.A.-area radio stations today to drive that point home. Earlier in the day, he talked with Los Angeles Sports News legend Fred Roggin on his show on The Beast 980 AM. Per their website (which includes the audio of the conversation), Mora stated:

"This is home for me. I want to build something special here. I think we are on our way to doing that and I think we have got a long way to go."

Later in the day, he also had a lengthy conversation with Petros Papadakis and Matt “Money” Smith of the ‘Petros and Money Show’ on Fox Sports Radio’s 570 AM in Los Angeles. Though the conversation started with questions about the Bruin’s lackluster end to the regular season with a loss to Stanford, Mora also talked about the rumors of him going elsewhere and reiterated what he said earlier to Roggin:

"I can tell you this, I am very happy at UCLA. Those rumors are not coming from me. This is a place where I want to stay and build something special."

So for now, Mora is still a Bruin… at least until a year from now when other schools try to claim him for their own. Though seeing as how he has handled the rumor mill these last two seasons, I am fairly confident that he should be the head coach of the UCLA Football program for a long time.
