Once again, Myles Jack and Eric Kendricks have both made it onto another pre-season award watch list, this time, for the Nagurski Award. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is given out annually by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and the Football Writers Association to the top defender in the nation. This is the second award that both Jack and Kendricks have been named to as two days ago, both were on the Bednarik Award watch list.

Jack is a specimen all his own. Last season, he was the Pac-12 Offensive and Defensive Freshman of the Year. He emerged as an athletic freak early for the Bruins as a true freshman. This led head coach Jim Mora to use him in space almost at every position among the LBs. He can even cover wide receivers, just ask Utah. Jack not only proved himself to be a defensive threat made his offensive skills known late in the season. I hate to repeat it, but he is a “Jack of all Trades”.

Kendricks was the Bruin’s lead tackler (solo and total) and is one of the more solid linebackers in the country. While Jack and former Bruin Anthony Barr were busy running after guys around the field, Kendricks held down things in the middle of the field. He is patient, which makes him very dangerous, because once he has locked onto his offensive target, he attacks with the ferocity of, well, a Bruin. With that being said…

Go Bruins!
