The UCLA Basketball team missed out on their seventh commitment for the 2017 class as 4-star shooting guard MJ Walker committed to Florida State.

UCLA Basketball Head Coach Steve Alford has been doing well on the recruiting trail lately, but unfortuantely missed out on a big catch Wednesday morning.

Alford and the Bruins could not land their seventh commitment for 2017 as 4-star shooting guard MJ Walker (Jonesboro HS/Jonesboro, GA) announced that he will being playing his college ball at Florida State instead of Westwood..

Walker had the Bruins in the mix with Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Ohio State, but ultimately settled on the Seminoles basketball program.

More from Go Joe Bruin

According to Scout.com, Walker is the #1 shooting guard in the south and #4 in the nation.

The 6’4″, 200 lbs. Georgia product wold have been the only shooting guard to commit to the Bruins for this recruiting cycle. This fall, the Bruins will already be bringing in the #5 recruiting class in the nation as PG Jaylen Hands, SF Kris Wilkes, SF LiAngelo Ball, PF Cody Riley, PF Chris Smith and C Jalen Hill will be in Westwood next season..

Walker would have been a welcome addition as an outside shooter as the Bruins lose Bryce Alford and Lonzo Ball, two of UCLA’s deadlier shooters from last season. Unfortuantely, Florida State gets to work with this talented baller.

Walker not only has the ability to pull up and shoot, but can also create his own shot with ease. He is not the fastest player (though not the slowest), which is good because he is not out of control and looks very fluid when he has the ball. Lucky Seminoles.

Next: Holiday (and Welsh) are returning to UCLA

Though the Bruins will be deep next season, they missed out on a bIg commitment with Walker. Still, it is not all bad for the Bruins and their fans as they incoming 2017 class should help UCLA continue their success from last season.
