UCLA Basketball: Fans Continue The Movement To Fire Steve Alford as a Mobile Billboard Circles Campus
The on-going movement to remove Steve Alford as the head coach of UCLA Basketball continues as a truck with a clear and direct message to fire him circles the Westwood campus.
The heat might have died down in the last week, but the movement by UCLA Basketball fans to fire Steve Alford is still going strong.

After voicing their opinions in an online petition, on social media and up in the sky (a plane pulling a banner twice flew over Westwood, both with messages to fire Alford), the majority of UCLA Basketball fans have been very vocal about ousting the 3-year coach.
That continued today as a mobile billboard on the back of a truck was seen circling the campus of UCLA.

The two-sided billboard targets both Alford and UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero.

On one side, their is a picture of Alford with the statement “Mediocrity Made Here, Restore UCLA Basketball Now!” On the other is a picture of Guerrero with the message, “Wake up, Dan!”
Under Alford, UCLA Basketball has gone 28-9, 22-14 and 15-17, with trips to the Sweet 16 in first two years, but completely missing the NCAAs in this last season.
With the Bruin’s recent descent, fans have been frustrated and angered by the inability of the AD to do anything about it, though Alford and Guerrero have not been silent on the topic.
Last week, Alford wrote a letter to Bruin fans apologizing for his team’s performance and admitted that improvements need to be made. In the letter, Alford also stated that he gave back the extension to his contract he received after his first season, vowing that he will earn it back.
A few days after that, Guerrero addressed the situation in a press conference that seemed to further anger fans rather than find a happy middle ground.

Though Guerrero seems set on retaining Alford, Bruin fans are not giving up their fight to replace the Bruin coach.
Despite the fact that UCLA has a Top 5 recruiting class coming in next year, Bruin fans seem sure that keeping Alford will do more harm than good, regardless of the talent he brings in.
