The UCLA Basketball team suffered their second straight loss and now find themselves becoming irrelevant in a season that had so much promise.

The UCLA Basketball team just lost to the Washington Huskies, 86-84, at Pauley Pavilion. One could say that it was a valiant effort in response to how they played in the second half, but you would have to look deeper.

The Bruins outscored the Huskies 51-35 after halftime, which would normally be cause for celebration, but not when the Huskies led 51-33 prior to that.

This is the second straight loss the Bruins have incurred after being blown out by the Oregon Ducks over the weekend. But that is not all. This was also the second straight loss at Pauley Pavilion, a place the Bruins appeared to be nearly invincible in.

More from Go Joe Bruin

That was until crosstown rival USC came in two weeks ago and gave the Bruins their worst home loss in the Steve Alford era.

Needless to say, these Bruins are falling apart. Memories of beating #1 Kentucky, getting a huge road win at Gonzaga and stopping the Arizona Wildcats on a last second shot have all but faded. The season was good, but now it is crumbling underneath them.

It is unfortunate too, especially at the rate at which it happened. The Bruins showed promise in the non-conference, but since they started Pac-12 play, they have been unwatchable. They are playing some of the worst basketball since Head Coach Steve Alford took over.

The Bruins were 9-4 when they completed non-conference play. Think about that.

The Bruins showed promise in the non-conference, but since they started Pac-12 play, they have been unwatchable.

Now, UCLA Basketball is sporting a 3-5 record in conference which is good enough for 10th place. That is unacceptable. Alford should always be in a battle for the top spot in the Pac-12, but that is not happening this year.

With that, UCLA is falling into obscurity at a rapid rate and Bruin fans are the ones made to suffer.

Unfortunately, there is going to be more of the same from the basketball team with Alford in charge. His inability to adjust his roster, his lack of defense or simply not being game-ready is hurting UCLA, which is hurting him because if this continues, then he won’t.
