UCLA Avoids Getting Burned By The Sun Devils
The UCLA Bruins avoid an embarrassing loss to Arizona State just days after beating #7 Arizona.
Like clockwork, the UCLA Basketball team once again needed a harrowing last minute push to beat a team that they were dominating all game long.
The Bruins had welcomed the Arizona State Sun Devils to Pauley Pavilion just days after beating their in-state rival #7 Arizona, 87-84, and showed up a little flat on this Saturday afternoon.
Against Arizona, UCLA had lead the majority of the game and was even up by double-digits when the Wildcats came storming back to tie it with 10 seconds left. Bryce Alford bailed out the Bruins with a 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds left to hit the game winner.

In this contest, UCLA had broken away from ASU early behind some solid shooting from Tony Parker, Prince Ali and Isaac Hamilton. The Bruins maintained an 11-point lead halfway throughout the first, but as seems to be the pattern, the Bruins took their foot off the gas and let the Sun Devils back in. By halftime, UCLA was only up by one, 38-37.
The second half saw ASU come out of the locker room on fire as they not only took the lead, but maintained control of the game for the majority of the half. It was not until the last five minutes that UCLA felt the urgency and started playing some balanced offense and defense.
Needless to say, the Bruins once again fell into an inconsistent pattern and used luck to get out of another jam that they put themselves in. Though it is not the best way to get a win, it is a “W” nonetheless.
