After a 10-3 season in 2013 where UCLA Football beat Virginia Tech 42-12 in the Sun Bowl, the Bruins are getting more — and well deserved — national attention.

One day after receiving a number seven ranking in the USA Today Coaches Poll, quarterback Brett Hundley and linebacker/running back Myles Jack were named in the top 15 of ESPN’s “CFBRank” series.

Jack placed at number 15 in the 20-11 article, while Hundley earned the number 12 spot.

Jack had one of the best freshman seasons in UCLA history in 2013, cementing himself as a great run stopper and also earned a reputation at playing solid in coverage. He amassed 76 total tackles, two interceptions, and one sack last season on defense.

He was as impressive on the offensive side of the ball last year.

Jack debuted as a running back at Arizona in the Bruins’ ninth game where he preceded to shred the Wildcats defense en route to a six-carry, 120 yard performance, including a 66-yard touchdown.

From there, he became a very reliable option in the red zone under Noel Mazzone’s offense and finished the season with 267 yards and seven touchdowns on 38 attempts. The highlight of this stretch has to be his four-touchdown effort in UCLA’s win over Washington.

It is safe to say that his body of work speaks for itself and Jack is definitely deserving of his ranking.

Hundley continued his dominance of the Pac-12 last season, once again proving that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the country. ESPN validated his season by giving him the aforementioned number 12 spot, a ranking which also places him as the third best QB in college football according to the list, behind only Oregon‘s Marcus Mariota and Florida State‘s Jameis Winston.

More from UCLA Bruins Football

The redshirt junior threw for 3,071 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2013, in addition to garnering 748 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. Hundley enters 2014 as a Heisman Trophy contender and it should be more of the same for him as UCLA looks to earn a spot in the first College Football Playoff. It remains to be seen what Hundley and the Bruins will do next season, however prospects look very high indeed in Pasadena.

Of course, these top player rankings are only hype and Jack and Hundley must build on their great 2013 seasons in order to live up to the expectations. Despite the fact that the rankings are buildup, after seeing these two play during their tenures in college, both of them have the superb work ethic and ability to perform to these expectations.

Ladies and gentlemen, more big things are on the horizon for Hundley, Jack, and the entire Bruin team.

Enjoy the show. It will be something special.
