The UCLA Bruins head into 2014 with many potent offensive weapons at their disposal.
Wide receiver Devin Lucien is one of those weapons.
Lucien has always been a dependable contributor for the Bruin offense while lining up both in the slot and out wide, and he looks to have an even bigger impact with mainstay Shaq Evans off to the NFL.
As fall practice approaches, Lucien looks to have a good chance to become one of UCLA’s top receivers if he has a good showing in San Bernardino.

His good speed and big play potential have always been components of his game, and he should be utilized by offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone a lot this season in those situations. Lucien is the prototypical receiver for Mazzone’s scheme, and he should have many more opportunities to showcase that in the coming season than in past years.
After a breakout spring performance by Eldridge Massington, Lucien may not be the Bruins’ number one receiver, but he should be called upon to have a big role regardless.
Throughout his time in the blue and gold, it would be safe to say Lucien was an “X-Factor,” not getting a lot of opportunities regularly, but always making the most of them when he did get the ball in his hands.
This season, look for that to change.
With Evans gone, Lucien has a golden opportunity to become an every-down dynamic weapon for the Bruins, and I believe he will take advantage of this chance and do just that in 2014.
