Athlon Sports has named Myles Jack and Eric Kendricks to their Preseason 2014 All-American Team. Jack was given a First Team defensive selection while Kendricks was listed as a Third Team defensive selection. Despite only being projections, it is an honor for these Bruins to be recognized for the talent and skills they bring to UCLA’s game.

Kendricks will be one of the more feared returning seniors in the Pac-12 next season, but according to Athlon Sports he will also be one of the more feared defensive football players in the nation. Last season, despite all the talent they had with Jack, Anthony Barr, Cassisus Marsh and Jordan Zumwalt (to name a few), it was Kendricks who led the Bruins with 62 solo and 106 total tackles. With two important pieces in the linebacking corps moving on to the NFL, you can guarantee Kendricks will be one of the premier stand-out player for UCLA in 2014-15.

In his freshman season, Jack made a huge impact for the Bruins as he was named Pac-12 Offensive AND Defensive Freshman of the Year. Not only did he make an immediate impact on defense, but later in the season, he was utilized as a running back for short yardage situations. That worked out well for him as he ended up fourth on the team in total rushing yards (267) and second on the team in rushing touchdowns (7).

Just because Jack and Kendricks were the only two Bruins named to the list, does not mean that they are the only ones that can make plays. Look for guys like defensive linemen Kenneth Clark, Owamagbe Odighizuwa and Eddie Vanderdoes, along with defensive backs Fabian Moreau and Tahaan Goodman to do some damage next year, just to name a few.

Go Bruins!
