Rowan Brumbaugh remained in the transfer portal up until tonight. There were talks that UCLA was after him to help fill some of the scoring void. This team has two open scholarships still available after the Azavier Robinson signing. Brumbaugh could've been a great option for the Bruins to fill a taller guard/wing position. Standing at 6’4, UCLA could've used his size and were after him as they awaited a decision on John Blackwell. But Brumbaugh just committed to SMU.

Brumbaugh similar to Blackwell has one year of eligibility remaining. After spending his freshman season at Georgetown. He spent the last two seasons with Tulane. This past season he averaged 19.2 points per game for the Green Wave. He was their leading scorer for the last two seasons. As he averaged 15.5 points per game his sophomore year. His ability to space the floor made him an intriguing fit.

Brumbaugh shot 36% from 3-point range on a high volume of 5.2 attempts per game. He also showed consistency shooting over his two seasons with Tulane. Hitting 125 attempts out of 348. Good for a 35.9% clip, which is above average. He would've came in and provided a good shooting option alongside Trent Perry and Jaylen Petty. Providing a good backup option if Blackwell fell through. Now that option is not there and they need to land Blackwell.

UCLA figures to be players in the transfer portal for their last two open spots. Which should be a traditional center and a taller guard that can play a wing. This team has lost a ton of scoring in Donovan Dent, Tyler Bilodeau, and Skyy Clark. Now they’re doing their best to bring in players that they can develop, but also veteran players to mix with them. With Brumbaugh now out of the equation, Blackwell remains the guy you throw everything at to get to Westwood.
