The transfer portal has been cooking and UCLA is very interested in dipping into the portal and getting players. With five open scholarships upon the departure of Skyy Clark. They used two of those on Filip Jović and Sergei Macura. Now leaving the Bruins with three open scholarships. They have been linked to some other players as well. Most recently to Azavier “Stink” Robinson. As reported by Sam Kayser.

Robinson was a freshman for Butler last season. He will have three years of eligibility remaining after a strong freshman season. His stats were not off the chart as he averaged 6.1 points, 2.5 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game. But he was able to do that on about 18 minutes per night. One thing that really sticks out is his defensive effort. He is very strong on that end and averaged 1.5 steals per game.

As UCLA is interested in getting a third guard this offseason. This could be a really good pick up for them. A guy that is willing to play defense and step right into the Mick Cronin mold. He also shot 47% from the floor and on limited attempts shot 43.3% from 3-point range. It’s not a home run transfer like some of these big names. But the NIL money is said to be crazy right now in the portal.

It is undetermined how much UCLA is willing to dip into NIL funds. But they’re definitely looking to build a winning roster. They will have the upside of Jović who played great at Auburn in the NIT. The Bruins are also taking a new approach and going younger eligibility wise. Getting Robinson would be another player with three years of eligibility. Which would go well with Jović timeline. That allows UCLA to grow these players internally.
