Jalen Cox is another talented guard that just recently hit the transfer portal. The Los Angeles native had a great season for Colgate this past season and is a good offensive player. He also is a very capable defender at the guard position as he averaged 1.7 steals per game last season. He drastically improved his game and was able to push his 3-point shot from 29.4% his sophomore season to 36.5% his junior year.
Colgate guard Jalen Cox plans to enter the @TransferPortal, but will keep the door open to returning, per his agent @danielegreensr of @gseworldwide.

The 6-3 junior averaged 17.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists per game, and 1.7 steals per game this season. All-Patriot League… pic.twitter.com/Oqwl6RWqOj
Cox last season averaged 17.9 points, 5.3 asssts and 5.2 rebounds per game on offense. He is a guy that is able to do it all from the guard position. As UCLA looks to replace 31 points per game on their offense from Tyler Bilodeau and Donovan Dent graduating. This would go a long way and helping fill some of that void. As the Bruins still wait on the eligibility decision of Skyy Clark with the NCAA.
Hopefully they will get good news on Clark, because if they don’t, then that would be another 11.5 points per game that they would need to replace. Especially as the team waits on a decision for Trent Perry and if he will return. UCLA needs to show that they are all in on making a contender. Or they could watch their roster crumble pretty quickly. There is tons of talent that has been hitting the portal but what type of NIL can UCLA offer?
Jalen Cox is a big time player for @ColgateMBB. One of my favorite @midmajorball players. 29 points yesterday on 10-13 from the field. 6’3 junior guard is shooting 56/45/87. Low 3pt volume but he generates paint touches as a high level. @JalenCox04

Cox just like Isaiah Johnson is a guy that can play both ends of the floor. Scoring very efficiently and buying into the defensive system. Creating the perfect player that Mick Cronin likes to go after. Cox may not get the recognition being at a smaller college like Colgate but that does not discredit the talent that this kid has. There will be plenty of schools after him and UCLA should definitely join the mix.
