Skyy Clark has had a phenomenal start to the season shooting the basketball. He currently is shooting 51.9% from 3-point range. Which is good for 8th in the country amongst all players who have taken at least 50 attempts. He went 6-10 last night against Arizona State to raise that average even higher. His spacing is opening up the UCLA offense, helping all the players get better looks. The offense seems to be clicking and that is something they did not have last year. As many times the floor looked so congested.
“He’s a great shooter – numbers don’t lie. Every shooting drill we do is on the clock, and we count shooting percentage. His numbers are as good as any player I’ve ever coached, including David Singleton.”

Clark was a key member from last year’s team that returned for this year. The Bruins lost most of their team but were able to keep Eric Dailey Jr., Tyler Bilodeau and Clark. As Dylan Andrews, Sebastian Mack, Aday Mara and Williams Kyle III all left via the transfer portal. Clark and Bilodeau were the two most important players for the team last year. The duo scored 33 of the Bruins 58 points in their round of 32 loss to Tennessee. They were the only reason the game was even close on a bad offensive night by UCLA.
There is still a long way to go in this season. Who knows where Clark will end up by the end of the year. But 11 games through the year shooting close to 52% from 3-point range is very hard to do. That represents elite level shooting that not many players have been able to come close to. His continued elevated play will only help the UCLA offense grow. Especially with Donovan Dent starting to turn a corner after his transfer over the offseason.

Not only is Clark helping this UCLA team with his shooting. He is also helping his future aspects in terms of being an NBA prospect. It is no secret that basketball is becoming long range shooting. If you have an efficient jump shot, teams will find you he makes for a very intriguing option in the second round. When you can space the floor and score three points you are valued. As some teams are shooting 3’s 40-50 times per night now.
