Sammy Omosigho was the top-rated transfer that UCLA brought in. He was the No. 3 overall linebacker and the No. 115 ranked player in the transfer class. Coming over from a playoff team and dominant defense in Oklahoma. He will play a gigantic role right off the bat for this UCLA defense. Helping try and get them back to being dominant and getting to the quarterback again.

It is no secret that UCLA had one of the worst defenses in the nation in 2025. They could not generate any sacks and that led to not being able to get any turnovers. Bob Chesney and his staff made it a point to go out and fix things as soon as possible. They went and got 41 transfers and were able to land Omosigho late in the portal to cap off the offseason. He will be in the middle of the defense and is ready to lead the unit.

Omosigho is everything as advertised at the linebacker position. He is a very fast player that can get to the ball quickly. He moves well sideline-to-sideline and can rush the quarterback when needed. Giving UCLA a player that they can build around this season and start to get back to a consistent style of defense. Omosigho brings tremendous experience from the SEC playing at Oklahoma.

In his college career, he has 96 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and two sacks. He will be a leader on the defense and will thrive in the Big Ten. At 6’1 and 235 pounds he moves very well and will be flying all over the field for UCLA. There will be a huge turnaround on the defensive side of the ball and UCLA will no longer be pushed around. They will have some very good games in 2026.
