Jaime Jaquez Jr. has been a solid player for the Miami Heat off the bench this season. Helping lead them to a 38-30 record and the No. 7 seed in the East at the moment. The former Bruin star has put together a nice little NBA career so far. After many questions how he would play in the league being a tweener player. They said he was too slow for small forward and not big enough for power forward. But he has silenced those critics to be one of the best sixth men in the league just three years in.

Jaquez Jr. is currently averaging 15.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game and doing so on 50% shooting from the field. He has been a consistent player for the Heat, pairing with another former Bruin in Norman Powell. The Heat have been a solid team this year, even though they have battled some injuries. Jaquez Jr. has played in 63 games on the season with only one start. He has consistently been in talks of the Sixth Man of the Year award. Although they have tailed off a bit with Naz Reid’s season for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Jaquez Jr. has gotten better each of his three years in the NBA. But he still looks to improve his 3-point shot, that hovers below 30%. He showed that he could hit that shot in college and now looks to do it at the NBA level. If he is able to develop that with his game, that will take him to a whole new level. Allowing him to space the floor much better and create good looks for himself and other players
It is cool to see the career that he is putting together. The Jaquez name is a big one in UCLA circles. As Jaime’s sister Gabriela is currently on the women’s team that looks to win a national championship this season. She has gone from second round hopeful all the way to top 10 star with the senior year that she has had. Soon to have the Jaquez siblings both being professional players. It is great to watch the UCLA name be attached to so many good players, men and women.
