Gabriela Jaquez has used her senior season to go from second round draft pick to top 10 hopeful. As the latest Yahoo Sports mock draft has her going No. 9 to the Washington Mystics. Which, if that were to happen, would pair her with her college teammate at UCLA in Lauren Betts. Who at the moment Yahoo has them taking her at No. 4. Jaquez has been a very intriguing story to watch in 2025. She has improved every single part of her game, including her ability to shoot the 3-point shot.

Jaquez does everything very well. She doesn’t have many holes in her game; she plays the role very well and is very good on the defensive end as well. Her numbers are not eye-popping off of the charts, but UCLA is loaded and doesn’t need them to be. Her senior season she averaged 13.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Jaquez was a very important part of one of the best defenses in the nation as well. Averaging 1.1 steals per game and often guarding the other team‘s best guards.
Jaquez had shooting splits of 54.3/41.1/86.3 on the season. Getting close to the elusive 50/40/90 shooting line. Showing how much growth, she had from her freshman season all the way to her senior year. As a freshman she seemed very hesitant to shoot the ball and didn’t always look 100% comfortable. But as she got older and gained more experience, you saw that confidence level go through the roof. Having her best season at the right time.
Jaquez is hoping she can end her college career with a national championship. Something that her brother Jaime came so close on multiple occasions as well. Both of them have a Final Four appearance at UCLA to their names. Now Gabriela looks to get a championship. She is a large part of what UCLA has been able to accomplish this season. She will also play a huge role in how far the Bruins go in the NCAA tournament. It’s been a heck of a run!
Gabriela Jaquez’s senior day Sunday marks the end of a seven-year run of love and loyalty for the First Family of UCLA basketball.
