Charlisse Leger-Walker is currently on the outside, looking in for the first round of the WNBA Draft. But she has the potential to make her way into it. She is a veteran guard that played highly efficient for the Bruins this past season. After spending the first four years of her career at Washington State, she transferred to UCLA last season. She sat out the entire season with an injury. But came back this season and played a big part of the Bruins team on both ends of the floor.

The Bruins are a highly proficient offense. But the best part about their team, is they might be the best defense in the country. All five players play great team defense and take teams best players out of games. Leger-Walker played a big role in that for this team. Helping pair with another grad transfer in Gianna Kneepkens to help shut down the wings. With Kiki Rice and Gabriela Jaquez out front to harass opposing guards and tire them out. This helped the team go on a 25-game winning streak.

Leger-Walker didn’t have off the chart stat lines this season. But that doesn’t discredit it what she can provide as a player. She is a very good passer and gets out in transition very well with her teammates. At Washington state she was a very high-volume shooter. She could score the basketball very well, but did so on many shots per game. Shooting only 38.2% from the floor which included 30.5% from 3-point range. At UCLA she shot 46.8% from the floor and improved to 36.2% from 3-point range.

Despite the scoring going from 16.6 points per game to 8.9 points per game. Her efficiency will help her future draft stock. As she showed, she can be a very capable passer at 5.6 assists per game. Leger-Walker and UCLA were a perfect fit for each other this season. She slid right in and made the team better. Now she will have the NCAA tournament to help see if she can push into the first round. Whatever team gets her, will be fortunate to have someone who can step in right away and help their franchise.
