Alex Wilkins out of Furman inputted his name into the many that have entered the transfer portal. The freshman guard showed a ton of promised last season. Which showed on the biggest stage in the NCAA tournament against UCONN. A game in which he did everything scoring wise to keep Furman in that game as a No. 15 seed. He had 21 points on 8-15 shooting which included 4-8 from 3-point range.
Wilkins is a special talent.

Legit 3-level scorer that can take you off the bounce and score in the midrange.
His length at 6'5 allows you to play him at the 1 or 2.
Where does he end up next? 🤔🤔🤔 https://t.co/kZIoRwCjcn pic.twitter.com/Lw8QtVmban
That type of showing in front of many people opened eyes. Which led to Wilkins, deciding it was best to enter the portal in search of a bigger school. He will definitely have some people looking at him for his ability to score the basketball. He averaged 17.8 points per game to go along with 4.7 assists per game. Doing so on 46% shooting from the field. His 3-point shot still can come along as he shot 32.8% from there.
Wilkins will have three years of eligibility remaining, which is huge considering this era. A team that gets him will have the ability to possibly have him for multiple years. UCLA could be a good landing spot for him to help absorb what was lost in Donovan Dent. As the team will need a new facilitator to run the offense. Dent was one of the best passers in the nation so that aspect will be hard to replace. But his scoring can be absorbed pretty well with an addition like Wilkins.
NEWS: Furman’s Alex Wilkins, a Second Team All-SoCon selection, will enter the transfer portal, per multiple reports.

The 6-5 guard led Furman in scoring (17.8 ppg) and assists (4.7 apg) as a freshman. Originally from Mattapan, Massachusetts. pic.twitter.com/FngwT2WTgl
Wilkins possesses great size at the guard position standing at 6’5 and 175 pounds. Which would create a great back court with Trent Perry if he ultimately decides to return to UCLA as well. The Bruins will also have a decision to make whether they want to go back to a three-guard set and slide Eric Dailey Jr. back to the four spot. This would be a great pick up for the Bruins and help their offense take another step scoring the ball.
