Here are two other takeaways from UCLA’s win over Colorado.

No. 2

The Bruin’s offense needs to stop turning the ball over.

The UCLA offense had two fumbles recovered by the Colorado defense and both Garbers and Schlee both threw an interception each. The Bruins can’t afford to commit that many turnovers on the road against Arizona. Steele’s two fumbles possibly cost UCLA two touchdowns. The other positive thing from his fumbles is that he can focus on not fumbling the ball during practice this week to prevent him from turning the ball over against Arizona.

Garbers and Schlee combined have five interceptions to five touchdowns on the season. If Garbers starts against Arizona, he can not turn the ball over as the margin for error against the Wildcats is small.

No. 3

The UCLA defense needs to create more turnovers.

The Bruins’ defense created zero turnovers against Colorado. The UCLA defense played amazing again with their play against a very good Colorado offense. However, not creating any turnovers against the Buffaloes did not hinder UCLA’s ability to defeat Colorado but if the Bruins want to beat Arizona on the road, they need at minimum, to cause two turnovers to help them beat a good Wildcats team.

Arizona will not have the bye week to prepare for the UCLA defense as they did when they faced off against Oregon State, but the Bruins’s defense needs to help put the UCLA offense in a position to score against the Wildcats and avoid a game like they had against Utah and Oregon State.

Once again, no one is saying that the Bruin’s defense did not play well against Colorado but with the UCLA offense not showing that they can put up a ton of points on the road against top-tier Pac-12 teams, the Bruin defense needs to be able to step up even more to help UCLA get a road victory against Arizona.
