2000 Sun Bowl: A rematch with Wisconsin
Two years after the 1999 Rose Bowl, UCLA and Wisconsin had a rematch in the Sun Bowl, and it was the same result. The Bruins kept it closer this time but lost 21-20. They finished the year at 6-6 after at one point reaching No. 6 in the poll.
It was Freddie Mitchell, UCLA’s junior wide receiver, who was the star of this game. He set a Sun Bowl record with 180 receiving yards on nine catches, but it wasn’t enough. Michael Bennett ran in the game-winning score for the Badgers from the five-yard line in the fourth quarter.
