Here are just a few reasons why student-athletes may be picking UCLA.

Weather

UCLA has been ranked No.1 for having the best weather out of all of the colleges in the United States.

Academics

UCLA was ranked the No. 1 public university along with UC Berkeley by U.S. News & World Report in 2023.  It is a great honor to be named among all the national universities in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings as the No. 1 ranked public university.

Popular

UCLA is according to one site, the most popular college in the West region that contains 13 states. Center for Sports Analytics at Samford University did the study and determined that UCLA had the most fans in each western region. The same study has UCLA having the 8th most popular college team following in the entire nation.

Going to the Big Ten will help UCLA financially and more

Student-athletes know that UCLA is in good standing financially long term due to the many benefits of joining the Big Ten in the summer of 2024. Not just athletics, UCLA is making improvements to its campus as well as being the host of the Olympic Village for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

The Bruins joining the Big Ten is projected to receive between $65 million to $75 million in its first year as a full Big Ten member, which is just more than double what it is projected to get from being in the Pac-12 this year. Also, the move to the Big Ten potentially can convince more student-athletes in the midwest region to come to UCLA as they are more likely to play road games closer to some of the athlete’s homes in the future.

UCLA is doing a great job getting student-athletes exposure for NIL and more

Most parents who have children know that kids love YouTube probably more than any other tv/streaming service for watching shows, videos, etc. UCLA is by far according to SkullSparks the leading athletic department for most subscribers to their YouTube channel. This is great for student-athletes who are looking for more followers to increase the amount of money they can receive via their name image and likeness.

No matter what the reason may be, Westwood and UCLA is the place to be for many student-athletes who are choosing UCLA to continue their education and athletic interests.
