North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball program has proven throughout time to be one of the top two most successful basketball programs in college basketball history. Tar Heels have won six NCAA championships, appeared in the tournament finals 12 times, and have made 21 NCAA Tournament Final Four appearances. The Tar Heels have been selected to the NCAA Tournament 52 times second-most all-time and only Kentucky has more appearances in the tournament.

The program has been led by some of the greatest coaches in college basketball history, including Dean Smith, Roy Williams, and Frank McGuire. The Tar Heels have also produced some of the greatest players in college basketball history, including Michael Jordan, James Worthy, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, and Tyler Hansbrough.

The North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball program is a source of great pride for the university and the state of North Carolina. The team has helped to put UNC on the map and to make it one of the most respected universities in the country.
