Indiana Hoosier basketball has a very passionate fan base and had a great run of basketball from 1976 to 1992. The Hoosiers have won five national championships, in 1940, 1953, 1976, 1981, and 1987 which is tied for fourth with Duke for the most national championships by a program in men’s division one college basketball. They have also appeared in the Final Four eight times and have won 22 Big Ten regular season championships.

Some of the most famous basketball coaches were on the sidelines for the Hoosiers starting with Branch McCracken, who coached Indiana to their first two national championships in 1940 and 1953. Bob Knight later coached the Hoosiers to three national championships, in 1976, 1981, and 1987 and 11 regular season Big Ten conference titles.

Indiana basketball is a major part of the culture in the state of Indiana. The Hoosiers are known for their loyal and dedicated fans, who create a raucous atmosphere at home games at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The fans of the Hoosiers are very dedicated and loyal in supporting Indiana basketball.

Indiana Hoosier basketball is a tradition-rich program with a rich history. The Hoosiers have been one of the country’s most successful college basketball programs for over a century, and they continue to be a major force in the sport today.
