The UCLA football team has two 2019 quarterback targets that were named to the Elite 11, “the nation’s most prestigious high school quarterback summit.”

Over the weekend, the Elite 11 competition narrowed down their list of the 12 most elite high school quarterbacks in the nation, which included two players that the UCLA football team has recently targeted.

Both Jayden Daniels (Cajon/San Bernardino, CA) the no. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the country and Ryan Hilinski (Orange Lutheran/Orange, CA) the no.6 pro-style quarterback have both been named to the Elite 11 and have booked their ticket to The Opening in Dallas, TX at the end of June.

New UCLA head coach Chip Kelly has been very selective in his scholarship offers, though he has four different QBs targeted for the 2019 recruiting class. Along with Daniels and Hilinski, Grant Gunnell and Shae Suiaunoa are also on Kelly’s list of offers.

Though there is a certain type of quarterback that fits the “prototypical Chip Kelly QB” label, it seems that he is throwing a wide net for his next signal caller. Daniels fits that label as a dual-threat. He has a strong arm and is quick on his feet. He recently listed UCLA in his Top 10 schools and it seems that he is heavily leaning towards the Bruins.

Hilinski, though appreciative of the offer, is currently committed to South Carolina. Though he is more of a pocket passer, his arm strength is something that Kelly can look to use in his offense.

Currently, UCLA does not have commitments to the 2019 class, though a lot of prospects have been eyeing the Bruins.

Kelly has made it known that he is not just going too be handing out scholarships to anyone. Not only is Kelly targeting long and fast players, but he also wants to make sure that they can make the grade at UCLA, meaning Kelly and his staff are truly going after all-around football players.
