UCLA Softball starts off with Florida State in the Women’s College World Series

After taking out #14 Arizona in two games this weekend, the #3 UCLA softball team heads to the Women’s College World Series and will take on #6 Florida State in the first round of the final stage of the NCAA Softball Tournament.

The UCLA softball team punched their ticket after their 3-1 win over Arizona on Saturday, and now that the rest of the Super Regionals are complete, we have the schedule for the Women’s College World Series.

With the WCWS beginning next week, UCLA ventures into the last phase of the tournament where eight teams will compete in a double-elimination setup.

The grouping is as follows:

  • Bracket 1: #1 Oregon, #3 Washington, #4 Oklahoma, #8 Arizona State
  • Bracket 2: #2 Florida, #3 UCLA, #5 Florida State, #7 Georgia

All eight teams will battle from Thursday, May 31 to Sunday, June 3 for the two final spots in the Women’s College World Series Finals. The Finals will be a best-of-three series and take place from Monday, June 4 to Wednesday, June 6 (Game 3, if necessary).

The Bruins begin their journey on Thursday against Florida State. The schedule for Day 1 is as follows.

  • Game 1: No. 1 Oregon vs. No. 8 Arizona State, 9 a.m. PT
  • Game 2: No. 4 Oklahoma vs. No. 5 Washington, 11:30 p.m. PT
  • Game 3: No. 2 Florida vs. No. 7 Georgia, 4 p.m. PT
  • Game 4: No. 3 UCLA vs. No. 6 Florida State, 6:30 p.m. PT

This is the 28th trip to the Women’s College World Series and if the Bruins can grab some hardware, it will be their 12th and UCLA’s 117th overall.

But lets pump the brakes a little bit as they aren’t there yet. UCLA has to survive their week in Oklahoma City and that is no easy task. Still, that doesn’t seem like it will phase the Bruins as long as they stick to their game and Fight, Fight, Fight! Go Bruins!
