The #3 UCLA Softball team quickly disposed of the #14 Arizona Wildcats in two games to advance to the Women’s College World Series.

There was no set back this weekend for UCLA Softball in the Super Regionals like there was last weekend in the first part of the NCAA Softball Tournament as the Bruins took down Arizona into quick games.

On Thursday, the bats were out as Bruins were hitting homers to take out the Wildcats in game 1. In game 2, they needed to play a more reserved game, but managed to get the 3-2 victory.

With this being a best-of-three series, Arizona acted as the home team even though it was at Easton Stadium. With that in mind, the Wildcats were hitting at the bottom of every inning and would have the last at bat in the game.

Arizona started the game up 2-0,  scoring in the bottom of the first inning, putting UCLA in a quick hole.

In the next frame, UCLA was able to score off of mistakes by the Wildcat pitcher. With Rachel Garcia and Bubba Nickles getting on base, the Arizona walked Brianna Tautalafua, loading the bases. Taylor Pack was up next and got on base after being struck by a pitch, forcing Garcia in for the Bruins’ first score. Unfortunately, UCLA stranded the three Bruins with the bases loaded.

In the next inning, Nickles got a hit to center field, bringing in Briana Perez, tying the score at 2. In the third Aaliyah Jordan got an RBI when her shot brought in Kylee Perez go give UCLA the go-ahead and game-winning run as the Bruins and Wildcats shut each other out in the remaining innings.

And just like that, UCLA got the “W’, the Super Regional and will be going to their 28th overall Women’s College World Series, which begins next Thursday in Oklahoma City. W find out later today who they will face and what the bracket will look like. Go Bruins!
