In episode 168 of the ‘What’s Bruin Show’, we take a look at UCLA football’s off-season narratives (including a “bare cupboard” and QB rankings), UCLA basketball’s WNBA representatives, a possible ultimatum for Steve Alford and UCLA beach volleyball’s epic tournament rally which brought UCLA’s total to 116.

In this episode, hosts Bill Shirley, Jake Merrifield and I are back after a week off and try to top our last episode in which we had an excellent chat with Pac-12 expert Yogi Roth (Click here for pisode 167 of What’s Bruin Show, “The Yogi Roth Files”).

Once we were done fawning over that, we get into some talk about a few Bruins teams in the post-season. UCLA beach volleyball won their first national championship, softball finished the season 50-4 and is hosting the NCAA Regionals this weekend at Easton Field, as well as a few other teams that are in conversation for a national title.

After the ‘Go Joe Bruin Headlines’, we dive right into UCLA football with some interesting narratives that have been big topics of conversation, most notably, the belief that the Bruins have a cupboard that is bare. We also take a look at the 2018 schedule and talk about how absurdly difficult it will be and how that will affect Chip Kelly in his first year.

We then examine an article by Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports who had a lot to say about the downfall of the Pac-12 Conference and Commissioner Larry Scott’s role in all of this. With the lack of production from the Conference of Champions, have they knocked themselves out of the elite group of Power 5 Conferences?

Moving on, we look at a couple of UCLA basketball players who have started their careers in the WNBA as we take a look at what Monique Billings and Jordin Canada have done in their preseason games. We then finish up with a controversial topic as it seems Steve Alford has been given an ultimatum.

Next: Is there an ultimatum for Steve Alford to keep his job?
