There are exactly 200 days until Chip Kelly and the UCLA Football team take the field against Cincinnati to begin the 2018 season. Here are some dates between now and then to make note of regarding the program.
We still have a long way to go before the UCLA football team officially begins the Chip Kelly era on the field, 200 days to be exact, but worry not. It will be here before you know it.
200 days is a long time and the Bruins need every one of those days to get familiar with their new system under Chip Kelly and his coaching staff, but as a fan, it might be tough to get through.
So while the Bruins are hard at work, UCLA fans will be waiting anxiously for the season to begin. So instead of staring at your calendar, waiting for Septmeber 1 to arrive (that’s the first game of the season against Cincinnati at the Rose Bowl, if you didn’t know by now), we want to prepare you with several dates (both estimated and confirmed) important to both UCLA football and Go Joe Bruin.
Dates to note in the 200 days to kickoff
February 27 – March 5 – NFL Combine
While we are waiting for the 2018 UCLA Football season to begin, we can saturate our football desires with NFL Combine news and information as six Bruins (QB Josh Rosen, C Scott Quessenberry, OT Kolton Miller, WR Jordan Lasley, DL Matt Dickerson and LB Kenny Young) have all been invited and will try to improve their draft stock in this week long event.
March 6 – Spring Practice Begins
It was confirmed on the Bruin Inisder Show that spring practice will begin on March 6, shifting from the usual early April schedule. The spring game should occur four weeks after this.
April 26 – April 28 – 2018 NFL Draft
With spring practice wrapping up, wrap yourself up in NFL Draft information as the six Bruins named above (and hopefully a few more) will get to hear their named called in the 2018 NFL Draft.
May 28 – Go Joe Bruin begins our 2018 schedule previews
As we have done every season for this the last four years, we get into our 2018 schedule previews at the end of May. We preview one game every week, right up until the week before the first game of the season. See you on the 28th for the Cincinnati preview!
June 25 – Summer Session 2018 Begins
Why is this date important? Because it is the first day of summer classes for the newest Bruins who have just moved in and now begin their UCLA careers. Think of it this way, that’s when Dorian Thompson-Robinson will officially start his journey with UCLA football.

August 6 – Possible Start to Fall Camp
Fall camp usually begins four weeks prior to the first game of the season, making August 6 a possible start to fall camp. The season is within field goal range at this point.

So fear not Bruins fans, the gap before the season is long, but GJB is here to help. Stay with us for the next 200 days as we get you ready for the 2018 season and the start of the Chip Kelly era.
