In episode 157 of the ‘Whats Bruin Show’, we look at UCLA football head coach Chip Kelly’s new coaching staff, the recruiting scene and try to figure out what is going on with UCLA basketball.

In this episode, hosts Bill Shirley, Jake Merrifield and I welcome back guest host Jamaal Artis of LA Sports Hub to talk about the progress with UCLA football filling their coaching staff and recruiting, as well as what is going on with the UCLA basketball team.

We start things off by taking a look at the football coaching staff as new head coach Chip Kelly has finalized his crew. The last of the positions to be filled goes to Dana Bible who will be the new quarterbacks coach. Bible has previously worked with Kelly, so this collection of minds should mesh well.

One interesting tidbit is that Kelly was expected to hire a QB/offensive coordinator, but UCLA, as of now, does not officially have a staff member with the title of OC. But because it is Kelly’s squad, it is pretty much a given that Kelly is the OC.

We then look at the direction the Bruins are going in with recruiting. Despite several decommitments, Kelly and his staff are assembling a solid 2018 recruiting class.

Speaking of recruiting, we also get into the commitment of 5-star center Moses Brown who gave his pledge to the UCLA basketball team this week, rocketing the Bruins to the #3 position in the 247 Sports recruiting class rankings.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the only good news surrounding the program as the team itself is on a 3-game skid and it does not look promising. We discuss what is causing all of this.
