UCLA Football Recruiting weekly update (1/15) – commits, targets and official visits

As we properly enter UCLA football’s Chip Kelly era, Go Joe Bruin is going to take a weekly look at recruiting. With this being the first recruiting class Kelly gets to mold, we want to properly detail the Bruins’ path into the future.

In this first weekly venture into UCLA football recruiting, we give you an update on what’s Bruin as the dead period is now over. This week UCLA had several visits and a couple commitments.

There was also a player that has moved on from the program. And even though it is not high school recruiting, the Bruins got a commitment from a grad transfer.

Commits

UCLA received two commitments this past week (10 days to be specific). The biggest came from OL Chris Murray who committed at the Army All-American Game. Go Joe Bruin Analysis.

Transfers

The Bruins got a big addition to their QB group as former Washington backup QB K.J. Carta-Samuels is transferring to UCLA. As a grad transfer, he is immediately eligible to play and will enroll in the spring. Go Joe Bruin Analysis.

Decommits/Departures

UCLA has parted ways with 2017 commit OG Kanan Ray who was greyshirting. Ray did not enroll at UCLA this last quarter and was recovering from shoulder surgery. He has since committed to Colorado.
