UCLA Football Recruiting: Defensive Back Quentin Lake Commits To UCLA

UCLA Football just landed a commitment from the son of a former Bruin star, as defensive back Quentin Lake announced his pledge to the Bruins.

The month of August has continued to be kind to UCLA Football recruiting, as defensive back Quentin Lake (Santa Ana, CA/Mater Dei), the son of Bruin and Pittsburgh Steelers great Carnell Lake, has done what was widely expected of him and committed to UCLA.

Lake earned his much-coveted UCLA offer about a month ago after a standout performance at the Bruin Elite Camp in Westwood and chose to commit to the Bruins over offers from Pittsburgh, Oregon State, and USC.

Lake has been extremely impressive on the 7-on-7 and school camp circuits this offseason and projects as the kind of defensive back Demetrice Martin absolutely loves: one with the athleticism and cover skills to play corner but the size to also play safety.

As one would expect, being the son of a star college and NFL defensive back, Lake is technically sound with a very high football IQ. And being a Bruin legacy and the son of both a former UCLA player and coach, it is no surprise that once Lake got his Bruin offer, it was essentially game over for every other school involved in his recruitment.

Alongside recent commits Jaylan Shaw (Corona, CA/Centennial) and Chris Wilson (Dickinson, TX/Dickinson), Lake helps the make up the foundation of what is shaping up to be a standout defensive back class for UCLA.

The Bruins continue to figure prominently in the recruitments of a number of blue-chip defensive back recruits, including (but not limited to) 5-star corner Darnay Holmes (Newbury Park, CA/Calabasas), 4-star corner Elijah Gates (Buena Park, CA/Buena Park), 4-star safety Chaz Ah You (Provo, UT/Timpview), and 4-star safety Bubba Bolden (Las Vegas, NV/Bishop Gorman).
