UCLA Football: Defensive Coordinator Tom Bradley Talks About the Defense and other Fall Camp News

UCLA Football Defensive Coordinator Tom Bradley gave his early take on the defense after three days in fall camp. Plus, UCLA had a few injury scares, some recruits were out and about and the first scuffle of the season occurred. Oh football, it is so great to have you back!

Here are some news and notes from a few UCLA Football beat writers after the third day of fall camp.

A Few Bruins Dinged Up

The Bruins want to limit injuries and might have dodged a bullet this early in camp. Bruin Report Online tweeted out that WR Theo Howard was limited to only conditioning and DE Takkarist McKinley might have sustained a shoulder injury. The good news is that McKinley was able to re-enter practice, but there was no further word on Howard.

A Few Visitors in Town

Edward Lewis of Rivals.com had reported that a few players visited campus to take in fall camp including a commit, a decommit and a player committed to another school.

Scuffle In Practice

A few Bruins got into a scuffle as reported by Thuc Nhi Nguyen of the OC Register. After DB Tahaan Goodman and LB Mique Juarez put a hit on FB Jalen Starks, McKinley and  WR Alex Van Dyke started shoving each other, though it did not escalate front there.

Bradley’s Defense

Tom Bradley talked to the media after practice today and gave his views on the defense this early in camp. Bradley said he was excited about Eddie Vanderdoes returing, how the defensive line is fundamentally getting better, not yet worrying about Texas A&M and the slow emergence of Mique Juarez.
