Matt Dickerson – DL to TE

Dickerson made our Most Underrated player list when we hit the defensive line but if he weren’t going to sacking QB’s he could be a monster tight end. I tend to have my worries about really tall guys because they have to be able to keep their pad level low and not lose leverage.

The Bruins have brought in a ton of new faces to help solidify their defensive front. With those new bodies, Dickerson would in theory be freed up to pursue a very interesting position switch. He has done a good job of keeping his pads low and his legs moving during his time at UCLA.

Now take that same kind of leg drive and power and move that over to an inline tight end in short yardage. You could treat him like an extra tackle and although I’ve yet to see him personally catch few if any balls, I’m sure an athlete like him could make the adjustment. That would really help the intermediate passing game for the Bruins and introduce a safety valve for Rosen as he continues to adjust to the new offense.

The Stanford Cardinal have done a fantastic job of out muscling teams and Dickerson could be a vital part of that muscle. UCLA plans to introduce a lot more power into their gameplan and why not start with a guy that epitomizes power?
