The Back Court Comparison
2014-15: Bryce Alford – Isaac Hamilton – Norman Powell
2015-16: Aaron Holiday – Bryce Alford – Isaac Hamilton
This is actually a very difficult set of line-ups to compare because of the similarities. Last year the Bruins had the youth of Alford and Hamilton with the experience and “KA-POWell” of Norman Powell.

Unfortunately, Powell is now off to the NBA and there’s a new guard taking a spot. Freshman point guard Aaron Holiday brings a lot of energy to the Bruins and was one of the bright spots in the Bruin’s exhibition win over Cal State LA.
The most promising aspect of this year’s front court is Isaac Hamilton who seems to be coming into his own. He showed what he can do in a 36-point performance in the Bruin’s Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinal victory over USC last season and once again dominated in the Bruin’s exhibition with a team-high 20 points. If he can continue to play at a high-level, the Bruins have their answer for Powell.
As for Alford, his overall game will improve with help Holiday at point guard. Last year it seemed Alford tried to take on too much in his role. This year, there are a lot of great ball handlers and distributors, wish could help him be very effective in the Bruins shooting game.
