USC: 9 wins, -115 over/-115 under

Source: ESPN

It always seems that the Trojans get hyped up in the months leading up to the beginning of another college football season. Name recognition and prestige can’t hurt, but now, nearly a decade removed of their golden age, USC needs to prove that it is still a legitimate threat.

Every season these days it seems that USC drops off the media’s radar after an early loss. In 2012, the #2 ranked Trojans were upset by #21 Stanford in the third week of the season. In 2013, the Trojans started the season ranked, only to lose their second game of the season in a 10-7 home defeat at the hands of Washington State. Last year, the #9 Men of Troy lost at Boston College in the third game of the season.

For USC to live up to the hype, they have to avoid losing early. That will allow them to spend some more time in higher poll spots. I’ll say that USC is living up to the hype if they lose no more than one game going into Halloween.
