The fourth seed in our Regional is Cal State Bakersfield out of the Western Athletic Conference, making their first CWS appearance. Winners of six of their last seven games, the Roadrunners (36-22) rely on their pitching to win. Led by staff ace Hayden Carter, CSUB has posted a 3.57 staff ERA, good for 59th best in the nation. That said, the Bruins will be more than happy to match pitching staffs, as UCLA’s staff ERA of 2.16 is the best in the nation.

The Bruins – with a team stat line of .286/.371/.415 – also have to like how Ty Moore, Kevin Kramer, Chris Keck and company match up offensively with the Roadrunners (.283/.364/.365), led by sophomore 2B David Metzgar.

UCLA is 3-1 all time against CSUB, last taking two of three in 2011.
